Well…Ryan Reynolds looks good in the suit. Unfortunately, this doesn’t compare to the rest of the superhero movies that have come out recently. It’s just too thinly written, where other superhero movies lately have been focusing more on the humanity and relationships of the heroes, this one falls short in that department. The relationship between Hal Jordan (Reynolds) and Carol Ferris (Blake Lively) is the weirdest hero/girl relationship I have ever seen. Throughout the entire movie, I had absolutely no idea what was going on with them. The plot itself was disjointed, and didn’t flow very well. And I know it’s the source material, but the whole physical manifestation of fear and will was cheesy and way to obvious of a metaphor. That being said, the special effects were pretty cool and Reynolds did the best he could with what he was given. The fights were well choreographed, especially the one between Hal Jordan and Sinestra (Mark Strong). Basically, I was mildly entertained for an hour and a half. There are better superhero movies out there though.
