MV5BMTQ4OTUyNzcwN15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMTQ1NDE3OA@@._V1_SX214_Nominations: Best Picture, Leading Actress (Jessica Chastain), Film Editing, Sound Editing, and Original Screenplay

A chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L. Team 6 in May 2011. (IMDb)

I thought this was an extraordinarily compelling movie. It showed a side for the hunt for Osama bin Laden that we as Americans never saw. It was totally fascinating to watch. Jessica Chastain was riveting and deserves every nomination she garnered. The time jumps are big and take a little bit to get used to, considering time spans from 2003-2011. Overall, a movie that is totally relevant to our society today. A definite must see.

I just wrote my review of ZDT on politicoid – i really don’t think it comes out condoning torture, in fact quite the opposite, although it took watching it three times to understand why. Have a read if you so desire…

Thanks! I really didn’t think it condoned torture either. To me, it was just a portrayal of how the hunt for bin Laden went about before and after the crackdown on the treatment of detainees. Although the scenes were not fun to watch, they did not detract from my overall experience of watching the movie.
