MV5BMTkzMjEzMjY1M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTMxOTYyOQ@@._V1_UY268_CR3,0,182,268_AL_When Tony Stark’s world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution. (IMDb)

This is one of the few Marvel movies that I haven’t seen yet, and I wanted to formally catching up before (finally) watching Civil War, so I thought this was a good place to start. And, I think this may be the best Iron Man of the trilogy so far. Tony Stark was really humanized in this one, thanks to another great performance from Robert Downey Jr. It was also really nice to see Pepper finally get to be more than the damsel in distress, multiple times. I don’t want to give away too much, but the twists and turns were really quite interesting, especially with Ben Kingsley’s character. Guy Pearce makes a formidable villain, Don Cheadle is always a great Rhodes, I really have no complaints in regards to the cast. The special effects are on point, as always, especially in the big climactic battle. While it does drag in parts, this doesn’t overall detract from what is a really solid movie.

7.5/10

Great review, I think this movie gets some unfair heat. Shane Black tried something different and I found it thoroughly enjoyable.

      Thank you!
And exactly! I don’t understand why Iron Man 3 was criticized for deviating from the formula while Captain America 2 was praised for doing the same thing. Both are great and enjoyable movies.
